The Creative Minds

The Beginnings
Sara and Mandy
met whilst working as
managers for a children’s event
company, which specialised in craft parties and events for
kids.
As creative and event managers they headed events for
clients such as Downing Street, Harrods, Disney, House of
Commons and many more.
They realised that they both loved
the theme of the parties and decided to set up Halos
and Heroes as a theme party company that can truly
cover all aspects of an event from crafts, games and
activities all within a particular theme – this ensures the
children really enjoy the party and allows their imagination
to work to their full potential.
Halos and
Heroes
was created in January 2007 to adapt to the ever changing
world in which children live and since launched we have gone
from strength to strength. Our own portfolio includes
McLaren, Gunwharf Quays, Land Securities and Jelly & Custard
to name just some!
The Creative
Minds – who are we?
Sara Kerley
Director
Sara loves
working with children, perhaps because she is still a bit of
a kid, as her love of High School Musical matches that of
the average 6 year old! She has worked with children since
the age of 14, including at a lovely nursery in California
and as the “Kid Cot Princess” of the UK Pavilion in EPCOT,
Walt Disney World! She also has some business skills too,
after University (American Studies degree at University of
Wales, Swansea) she worked with her dad, Neil, in the
construction industry for 2 ˝ years learning all kinds of
new skills that she still uses on a daily basis with Halos
and Heroes – understanding a balance sheet and a P&L is
ALWAYS useful!
In her free
time Sara loves to walk her dog, Jumble and her surrogate
dog, Tilly. She also loves to dance, salsa, merengue,
bachata and maybe Jive if she finds the time!
Favourite
things include a good pint of Guinness, a log fire, a plane
ticket to LA and a Morning lie in.
Interesting
fact: Sara was once in a Panasonic advert directed by David
Bailey!

Mandy Ivens-Brown
Party
Specialist
Mandy holds an
equivalent to NVQ3 qualification in Early Years childcare,
in fact it’s Montessori (everyone say ooohh!) She has a
mountain of experience in children’s parties and makes all
of Halos and Heroes fabulous props (she’s a
talented artist!) Mandy’s previous work history includes an
internship for NatMags, an editor for a holiday cottage
magazine, a designer, an English teacher in Japan and, of
course, an Early years nursery nurse. She combines these
aspects of her previous jobs in her everyday work life for
Halos and Heroes, if you look at our fab flyers, she has
designed EVERY one (isn’t she clever!)
Mandy writes
children’s stories in her spare time, runs her very own
Rainbow unit, attends a writing group and can be seen
driving our big minibus, Marjory around – if you see her
give her a wave!
Favourite things include a cup of coffee of a morning, a
glass of wine of an evening, gardening (she’s chuffed to
bits with her new greenhouse), cheese (any variety) and
playing with her cat Millie.
Interesting
fact: Mandy has 3 brothers all of whom live in different
parts of the world (In fact when Mandy lived in Japan – the
4 siblings were spread over 4 continents! Amazing)
Favourite book:
